  "description": "Under the Marine Directive 2008/56/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 17 June 2008, article 8 - assessment.  D10 : Properties and quantities of marine litter do not cause harm to the coastal and marine environment.  In their marine strategies, EU Member States need to consider the composition, amount and spatial distribution of litter and microlitter on the coastline, in the water column, and on the seabed. They may also look at the amount of litter ingested by marine animals as well as the number of species that are adversely affected by litter, such as due to entanglement or mortality.  This dataset is part of the High Value/HVD Datasets identified in accordance with Implementing Regulation No. 2023/138 of Directive (EU) 2019/1024 on open data and the reuse of public sector information.",
